750 Trophy RacingVehicle Type

The 750 Motor Club’s ‘Historic’ racing series, for early 750 Formula, Austin 7 specials, 1172cc side-valve front-engined cars, Historic 500cc F3 cars and other historic and classic cars. New cars have to be built within careful guidelines to ensure compatibility.

Engine

The range includes Austin 7, Reliant engines (642cc and 748cc OHV, 747cc side-valve), Ford 1172 side-valve and Climax; F3 500cc class must comply with 500 OA rules.

750 Trophy RacingSuspension

This varies a lot dependant upon the class in which the car runs. It can be anything from leaf springs through to ‘coil-overs’.

Brakes

In the Austin 7 classes, brakes are restricted to the Austin 7 drums. In the other classes, the use of disc brakes is not permitted unless part of the original design.

Transmission

Classes A & B must use the standard A7 casing; alternative ratios may be fitted, either 3-speed or 4-speed, plus reverse.

750 Trophy RacingTyres

Class A restricts width and profile; classes B & C permit the use of treaded racing tyres or ‘cut’ slicks. Many of the 1172 cars use the Dunlop Formula Vee tyre.

Rounds

There are 8 – 10 rounds in the season, some of which are ‘double-headers’.

Costs

Registration fee for the 2012 Season is £82.
