Vehicle Type
The
regulations are fairly straightforward and limit
the amount of permitted modifications and, therefore,
the cost of preparing a car.
Basic
MSA Safety features – rollcage, extinguisher,
racing seat, safety harness – are mandatory.
Engine
Engines
are standard with no modifications except for
the fitment of a ‘control’ camshaft
from Newman Cams. Inlet manifold and exhaust manifold
to remain standard; filtration and remainder
of exhaust ‘free’. Standard ECU may
be re-mapped. Sump may be baffled but dry sump
is not permitted.
Suspension Suspension
springs may be lowered and stiffened; dampers
may be uprated; bushes can be replaced; standard
anti-roll bars to be retained.
Brakes Brakes
standard or standard pattern with ‘free’ pads,
removal of back-plates and replacement of brake
hoses. No ABS, even if standard fitment.
Transmission
Standard
gearbox and final drive to be retained; no limited
slip or similar differential whether mechanical
or electronic.
Wheels
Wheels
14” or 15” diameter, maximum 7” width;
steel or aluminium alloy only (no magnesium).
Tyres
Tyres are Toyo R888 in 185/60/14 or 195/50/15.
Weight
Minimum weights excluding driver are
8 valve vehicles – 850
kilograms.
16 valve vehicles – 900 kilograms.
Rounds
There
will be 10 rounds in 2008 mostly of about 20
mile / 15 minute
duration.
Costs
Registration
fee for the Championship Season is £125.00
(or £75 for
those registered for the 2007 series)
750 Motor Club membership for 12 months is £50.00
including a joining
fee.
