Locost RacingVehicle Type

The cars are built to the design set out in Ron Champion’s book. The purchase of new cars which have been professionally-built is prohibited. All cars must be capable of passing an MoT on the day of the race.

Engine

Ford Xflow 1300; modifications are limited to a + 0.090” rebore and basic ‘blue-printing’. Induction is the 1300GT carburettor or similar, but exhaust is free.

Suspension

Mods are limited to choice of spring-rates, single-adjustable steel-bodied dampers and free choice of anti-roll bars.

Locost RacingBrakes

Front is standard non-ventilated discs and caliper, rear is standard drums, both from Cortina, Escort or Capri; choice of friction material is free.

Transmission

4-speed Escort or 4/5-speed Sierra Type 9 gearbox; standard ratios. Final drive ratio is free; no LSD or similar.

Tyres

The only permitted tyre is the Yokohama A539 in either 185/60 or 175/60 x 13".

There are 14 rounds in the season, of which the best 12 count for the Championship.

Costs

Registration fee for the 2012 Season is £110.
750 Motor Club membership for 12 months is £56.00 including a joining fee .
