This
1200 mile rally was a two centre holiday based
mainly in Kaysersberg in the Alsace
(13th-17th August),
and Gengenbach in the German Black Forest 18th –21st).
Overnight stops on the way are at Charleville –Mezieres
(11th) and Nancy (12th) and on the return to Calais,
Luxembourg City (22nd) and Cambrai (23rd). ‘Visits’en-route
include a Rhine cruise and a visit to the Vogsbauernhof,
in Gutach. The 50 plus cars entered include
38 Austin Sevens and a selection of other classic
and vintage cars. They came from England, Scotland,
Norway and France.

A massive
group photo arranged by the local press in Gengenbach.
Only
one Seven failed to complete the route and had
to be trailed back
to Scotland. We were joined in Kayserberg
by two 750 members from Switzerland in their MG
and Sevens and in Gengenbach by two BMW/Dixi owners
from Germany. About 18 members of the German
Austin Seven Club turned out to meet us at the
Frielitchmuseum where gifts were exchanged.
A final celebration
Dinner was held in St Omer before the final drive
to the shuttle and home.
The
German Austin Seven Club welcomed us in the Black
Forest.
