Austin 7 - Seasonal Survey 2011
| The 750 Motor Club has had another full year of Austin Seven activity in it's 72nd year. |
|
Of the 'National' events the National Austin Seven Rally at Beaulieu is our 'Blue Ribbon' Austin event. The 49th of this prestigious event in July was blessed with a superb entry and perfect weather. The large Autojumble was doing great business and the driving tests were well supported. The Honourable Ralf Montagu honoured us by coming out to present the, nearly 30, awards.

Members and friends filled the large marquee at the Saturday night BBQ with impromptu entertainment.

The 8th bi-annual Yorkshire Experience later in July attracted no less than 98 entries from all over the UK, plus Holland, France, Germany and Australia. Organisation was a cooperation between the 750 and Pre-war Clubs and the daily routes took entrants all over the Yorkshire Dales and, dare I say it, a little bit of Lancashire.

At the end of August Austin Seven members were invited to attend the annual Summer Festival at Silverstone. As well as enjoying a prime position in the paddock Austin and vintage owners were allowed three 'parade' laps of the famous circuit. This event was also used to celebrate the life of Bill Boddy, one of our founders, who died only a few weeks before.

To bring the season to a close about 100 members help Marshal the start of the annual Veteran Car Run to Brighton at Hyde Park. A very pleasant social morning concluded with a great breakfast at the salubrious RAC headquarters in Pall Mall.

But most A7 events were run by our regional centres and groups. These include several 'social runs' by Tunbridge Wells, Brooklands, North Herts, Norfolk , Western and Cheshire centres.
Notable were a trip to northern Spain by Brooklands centre and to Northern France by North Herts centre – the 25th such event!
Two production trials were held by the Brooklands centre.
Static rallies were held in Norfolk, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Surrey, and Gloucestershire.
Most of these events will be repeated in 2012 – the exceptions are the Yorkshire Experience – a year off – and the Summer Festival will be at Donington this year.
