This car is a one-off design and build by myself, completed as a hill climb car in late 2015. The car was consequently converted for circuit racing in 2016 and is eligible for Bikesports. The car was raced in 2016 in the Castle Combe Sports Racing Car series and has been tested in 2017 following an engine change to the Honda CBR1000 unit in early 2017.
With a ready to race weight of 460kg will also make a very quick and reliable track day car.
Brief technical details of the car are as follows:-
Engine and Drivetrain – Honda Fireblade CBR1000 engine/gearbox unit supplied by AB Performance in late 2016 with custom made exhaust system, billet sump and Power Commander.
Final drive is by chain to a 3G LSD and specially made drive shafts – 2 spare sets supplied. Electric reverse is fitted.
Cooling system includes an AH Fabrications aluminium radiator mounted in the RH sidepod with a 32 row oil cooler in the LH sidepod.
Fuel system includes a 24litre AH Fabrications foam filled fuel tank mounted inside a stainless steel cover in the passenger footwell. A Bosch high pressure fuel pump, pressure regulator and gauge is fitted.
Chassis – Large diameter steel tubular welded space frame with bonded and riveted aluminium panels. Aluminium plate bulkheads incorporated for suspension, steering rack and engine mountings.
Suspension – The front suspension incorporates double unequal length wishbones with pushrod operated AVO coil /damper units. The rear suspension comprises unequal length transverse links, long radius arms and AVO coil/damper units. The suspension links include spherical rod ends and are all fully adjustable. Fully adjustable anti-roll bars are fitted front and rear.
Brakes – Willwood 4-pot callipers are fitted at the front with 9’’ discs and 4-pot Minispares callipers are fitted at the rear with 8’’ vented rotors. Twin master cylinders with adjustable balance bar is fitted.
Wheels and tyres – 1 set of 8’’ x 13’’dia Image 3 piece wheels fitted with Avon crossply 7.00/20 – 13 slicks. Tyres were purchased June 2017 and have only completed 2 test sessions.
1 set of 6’’ x 13’’dia J Brown Minilite style wheels fitted with Avon 160/530 -13 radial moulded wet tyres. Wheels and tyres were purchased June 2017 and are unused.
Bodywork – GRP and aluminium bodywork with detachable front and rear sections. Rear body section mould is supplied. Aluminium wing is mounted from the chassis on a tubular subframe. Diffusers are incorporated in the GRP/balsa splitter.
Cockpit equipment – Instrumentation includes a Stack tachometer and Racetech oil pressure and coolant temperature gauges.
A plumbed in Lifeline Zero 2000 fire suppression system is mounted in the passenger area.
