FOR SALE – Pell Genesis RGB Race Car

History

Build in around 2002 this car actually won the RGB Championship Class A in the hands of its designer and builder Tim Pell. It was campaigned for many years by Adrian Moore to several class podiums and most recently since 2013 by myself.
It’s a firm favourite with fans, painted in striking Subaru Blue and with a pleasing shape

Development

The car has been extensively developed over the years, having gone through a variety of engine and bodywork configurations, a bespoke sidepod design saw the radiator and oil coolers moved from the front of the car to the rear.
For the 2015 season the car benefitted from new power and a new stainless performance exhaust, moving away from the older spec fireblade engine, it also benefited in new double adjustable Protech suspension, new DigiDash 2 data logger, conversion to electric water pump and significant weight savings bring it to 565Kg in post-race trim, including the driver (475kg without driver).

Whilst not necessarily a front runner, in the right hands it can still punch well above its weight and mix it with much more expensive RGB cars, as I did in the 2015 season.
If you are new to racing, or want to get into RGB and don’t necessarily want to spend a fortune and want something you can develop and learn from that crucially, isn’t going to try to kill you every time you turn in, then this is the car for you.

Good points

Tried, tested well understood car
Fresh engine, low mileage, only 4000 road miles and 3 races since it went into the car.
The car in the right hands is capable of a top 10 finish and featuring in the top 15.
Well setup and understood car that is predictable at the limit
A great learning platform for new drivers
A cheap way to get into one of the best and most competitive club racing series going: RGB.
This is a bargain, considering a top car is somewhere between double and triple the asking price.
Engine has been mapped by renowned RGB engine tuner Damien at DayTuner and gives a reliable 155bhp at the wheels.
The weight of the car post-race at Snetterton with me in it was 565Kg, very close to the minimum 560Kg weight limit.

Bad Points

The bodywork is generally in a bit of a tatty state, nothing that can’t be sorted out.
There is some cosmetic damage that I would like to repair before final sale
It’s an older car, so a little rough around the edges
The radiator is in need of replacement
It hasn’t yet had a winter refresh, so items like the chain need replacing and it needs a good check around.

Sale Details

Genuine Reasons for Sale. I have an opportunity in RGB that I simply cannot refuse.

The car is available now for £6500 if you want to take it off my hands and fix things up yourself.
Or it will be available in time for the 2016 season start with repairs, mentioned above, completed for £7000.

Optional extras, by separate arrangement.

There is an option to take the spare CBR 1000 engine I have for £1000. This engine is the same spec as the one in the car and similar mileage, except it’s on a standard sump that would need to be swapped over. It has recently been overhauled and inspected by Andy Bates at AB Performance with a new clutch and head gasket fitted. This is also a bargain and cost over £1700. Running a spare engine is advisible
