2014 Annual Awards & Dinner Dance Review

Thu 05 Feb 2015

The annual 750 Motor Club awards night and dinner dance has long been a mainstay of the off season, with a chance for club members to celebrate the achievements of a year gone by, as well as look forward to the dawn of a new racing season. Without the usual time and logistical constraints of a race weekend, it is a well-deserved opportunity for competitors, sponsors, friends and family to relax and finish all the conversations started around the paddock.

The Holiday Inn in Stratford-upon-Avon was once again the welcoming venue, however the attendance numbers within were very different. This year’s event boasted a record-breaking guest list of more than 420 people, an increase that reflected the success of the club in 2014, where competitor numbers increased by 17% over the previous season.

After dinner entertainment was an in-house affair, with regular commentators Ian Sowman and Marcus Pye taking to the stage to regale the successes of the 750 Motor Club’s year. Backed up by Matt Suckling mingling for interviews within the crowd, it gave a welcome and entertainingly interactive opportunity for guests to hear more about alternative championships, as well as highlighting the names of rising stars and regular success stories within the 750 Motor Club’s 2000+ registered members.

In total across the 16 different circuit racing formulae, 100 awards were presented by Competition Manager Giles Groombridge and Office Manager Nicky Emmerson, including 6 for special service to the club.

The awards not only celebrated the successes of the 2014 season, but is the traditional start to the new racing year, where the 750 Motor Club looks set to capitalise in 2015 on being at the forefront of club racing with new formula additions (in the form of Bernie’s V8s), and record registration numbers. Following a popular pre-season track day on March 1st, the season kicks off at Donington Park on March 28th, see you there.
