Bikesports Set For Record Entry At Silverstone

Bikesports Championship is on track to enjoy a record-breaking weekend at Silverstone next weekend (22
nd/23
rd August). This second double-header event of the 2020 season currently boasts a 32-car entry, the biggest the championship has seen in its history, including a healthy number of newcomers.
The
Bikesports Championship has grown in recent years, with grid numbers soaring, but this year has seen it flourish with a surge of new drivers. This combined with many Bikesports regulars from recent seasons has created a superb number of registrations for 2020. A number of familiar faces have returned to the championship this season, including reigning Class A champion Josh Smith (Radical PR6), who returns to defend his title along with a number of fellow drivers under his RJ Motorsport banner. Following a dominant performance in Class C last year - during which he was challenging for and achieving overall race wins - Scott Mittell has made the switch to Class A for 2020, in a bid to fight for overall title honours in his Mittell MC-41R machine.
New drivers include circuit racing stalwart Norman Lackford, who joined Bikesports at Snetterton last month in his Radical PR6, at 75 years of age and now in his 51st year of competition. Former Radical race winner Martin Brooks also joined the championship this season and will be looking to challenge for class and overall race victories at Silverstone. Dave Krayam (Radical Prosport) is another new face this year, along with fellow Speedtec Motorsport drivers Richard Gillman, Robert Gillman and John Gillman, all of whom will be on the grid at Silverstone. Krayem’s career stems from Group N Touring Cars back in 1988, through to various GT machinery.
