Birkett Relay Race - record 70 team capacity grid!

Wed 23 Oct 2013

The Birkett 6 Hour Relay Race has broken its 2012 record, and for the first time since the event migrated to the full Silverstone GP circuit has achieved a capacity grid. 70 teams will participate in the event with each team fielding between 4 and 6 drivers.

“To fill such a large grid during these chastened times clearly demonstrates the growing appeal of the Birkett.” says Giles Groombridge, Competition Manager. “Now in its 62nd year, the Birkett has definitely become one of the ‘must do’ events on the national racing calendar. This must be the largest starting grid of any single race in the UK this year”.

This year has seen entries from the likes of Mission Motorsport, provider of disabled and adaptive motor sport to Defence, and Mazda Motors UK.

The event, which dates back to 1951, is open to anyone with a National B competition license, and teams can be made up of any closed wheel race cars.
