MR2 Super GT

Descriptions, regulations and registration for the MRT Super GT Formulae.

Vehicle Type

The MR2 Super GT Series is for Competitors participating in Toyota MR2 Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 UK & Japanese domestic market cars and is designed to offer competitors a great deal of freedom in preparing a high performance MR2 race car, whilst at the same time providing a framework that keeps cars competitive and cost effective. Its innovative method of monitoring performance levels gives teams the opportunity to develop cars that suit their particular skills and resources.


Cars run in three classes:-
Class A: Super GT 250
Class B: Super GT 200
Class C: Super GT 150 / MR2 Championship

Engine

Any engine originally manufactured by Toyota and fitted to a production vehicle may be fitted to any MR2 chassis. This also includes engines originally installed in Lexus vehicles. Modifications to head and block are free, but must be based on original standard parts. Crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, valves, camshafts and manifolds are all free. Cylinder capacity may be increased or decreased by modifying cylinder bore and/or piston stroke. Petrol and Diesel engines are permitted. Toyota variable valve timing (VVTi) and variable lift (VVTLi) systems are permitted. Induction systems are free. Forced induction may be added to naturally aspirated engines.

Suspension

Suspension must be BC Racing RM series type MH inverted monotube coilovers and sourced from the series organiser. Spring rates and damper valving are free

Brakes

Brake calipers are free but must have no more than four pistons. Brake disks and pads are free.

Transmission

Any transverse gearbox originally manufactured by Toyota and fitted to a production vehicle may be fitted to any MR2 chassis. This also includes gearboxes originally installed in Lexus vehicles. Only the rear wheels may be driven.

Tyres

Wheel Diameter must be 15", 16" or 17". Wheel width must be no greater than 10". Offset is free.

Rounds

There are 10 rounds in the season. All will be ‘double-headers’.

Costs

  • Register Now There is a registration fee for 2012 of £55 (free if driver is registered for the MR2 Championship), and all drivers must be members of the 750 Motor Club.
  • Become Member 750 Motor Club membership for 12 months is £56.00 including a joining fee.
