John Miles – Young Driver Award

Thu 07 May 2015

Following last year’s “John Miles Design and Innovation Award”, which led to engineer Tony Batten winning a £1000 cash prize in recognition of his efforts in penning the championship winning   Batten-3   750 Formula car; the 750 Motor Club are delighted to announce that John will sponsor an altogether different prize during 2015.

Rather than repeat 2014’s “Design and Innovation Award” John plans on turning his attention to spotting driving talent and will be attending a number of our race meetings this year to pick a winner for his 2015 “750 Motor Club Young Driver Award”. For those of you unaware of John’s past achievements, prior to embarking on a long and successful career in automotive engineering he was a driver of some repute graduating from club sportscar racing all the way to Formula One.

John started a total of 15 Grand Prix with a best finish of 5th place in the 1970 South African GP and later raced in the both the European Touring Car Championship and international sportscar events, winning the 1971 RAC British Sports Car Championship.

John will once again donate a generous £1000 cash prize to the winner, and the 750 Motor Club will match this amount in credit against entry fees for the 2016 season.

In order to be considered for the award, drivers must fulfil the following criteria:
  1. Be registered for a 2015 750 Motor Club Championship or Series
  2. Compete in at least 3 x 750 Motor Club Race Meetings during 2015
  3. Be born after the 5th of October 1985
Interested drivers should enter via email with a racing "CV" and photo of their current racecar to giles@750mc.co.uk
