Name: Jack Coveney
Double Championship Winning Locost
I have owned this car for several years with no expense spared. It is currently run by Team Sellars Racing.
It was meticulously built by Scott and Ian Mittell; http://www.mittell-cars.com/
Scott won two consecutive Locost Championships with the car.
2016 winning 5 races with 8 podiums, from 13 finishes.
2017 winning 6 races with 8 podiums, from 12 finishes. Finishing 2nd in the championship without contesting all rounds.
2018 I only competed in a few rounds. I last drove the car at Cadwell Park on 28th July 2018, qualified on pole by 1.18 seconds, won race one and came second in race two.
Video from qualifying and race one:
The car was last raced by my friend Ben at Anglesey on 15/16th June 2019. The car was on pole by 0.46, won race one, second in race two (lost it in back markers on last lap) and won race three by 5.78 seconds.
Results can be seen here: https://www.750mc.co.uk/ugc-1/1/9/0/0b6780b5-da37-474f-a6d8-ef1547d6852b.pdf
Note the car was raced on two year old tyres, so a new set for £255 will buy some very cheap lap time. Ben had never driver the car before qualifying, except for 4 laps on the Friday test.
The car is fully refreshed and ready for a full seasons racing, items include:
Brand new rebuilt engine, showing the most BHP TSR have seen on their rolling road for a Locost engine. Can supply dyno result to buyer.
Reconditioned 4.1 diff.
Repainted in January 2018- some gravel rash in places occurred since.
Hard wired transponder, circa £300.
New large extinguisher (£300), so meets regulations post 2021.
Belts replaced last year, many years in date.
New aluminum radiator.
New wet tyres on rims.
Re-valved dampers in April 2018 (£380).
New tyres, one meeting old- will last a season.
The car is very light, I am around 80kg in race kit and run with 16kg of ballast and a full tank of fuel so will allow the larger driver to be on the minimum weight limit.
As to corner weighting the car is within 1kg across both axels with driver, perfectly balanced. I don’t think you will find a better balanced car on the grid.
Car it currently stored, maintained and run at meetings by TSR. They are based at PE20 3QX. I am sure they would be very willing to continue to run the car for the new owner. They come highly recommended.
I’m likely going to race the car at Brands Hatch on August 17th if it doesn’t sell before hand.
Appreciate a lot of people will say its expensive, but you wont be able to build a car anywhere near to this standard for less. If the lap times don’t speak for themselves then please ask around the Locost paddock for peoples thoughts on the car. You will struggle to find anything that can touch it on track.
